The Board of Trustees of the North
Canton Public Library held a regular meeting on Wednesday, August 15, 2007
at the library. Mr. Shoup called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m.
with the following members present: Mr. Shoup, Mrs. Rankin, Mr. Dansizen,
Mrs. Zollinger, and Mr. Fonte. Absent: Mrs. Ziarko, and Mr. Smetana. Mr.
Robert Fonte was sworn in for the appointment by North Canton City Schools
Board of Education as Trustee to fill the unexpired term of Skip Lawton
(expires 12/31/10). Staff: Karen Sonderman, Kelly Kroll, Jo Ann Simon,
and Linda Bayman. Guests: 3
Mr. Dansizen moved, Mrs. Rankin seconding,
to accept the minutes of the July 18, 2007. Ayes: Shoup, Rankin,
Dansizen, Fonte, and Zollinger. Absent: Ziarko and Smetana.
Report of the Clerk-Treasurer:
Mrs. Kroll reviewed the financial
report for the month of July. The cash balance in all funds was about
$865,900.00, and encumbrances were about $259,000.00. The ending
balance in all funds was about $606,800.00. Month to date revenues in
all funds was about $147,500.00 and year to date was about $1,191,400.00.
Month to date expenses for all funds were about $171,700.00. We have
spent approximately $1,068,200.00 year to date. Also, Mrs. Kroll submitted
the investment report for July – 2007 (attached). The Clerk-Treasurer’s
report for July, 2007 was accepted and filed for audit.
Mrs. Zollinger moved, Mr. Fonte seconding,
to accept the following gifts for the Memorial and Gift Fund with our
thanks:

Committee Reports:
Building – Chairman, Ken Dansizen
reported they met on August 13, 2007. (see Building Committee meeting
minutes attached). Also, Mr. Shoup recommended the appointment of Mr. Bob
Fonte to be added to the Building Committee consisting of Mr. Dansizen,
Mrs. Rankin and ex-officio member, Mr. Shoup. The next Building Committee
meeting is September 19, 2007 at 8:45 a.m.
Art - Mrs. Sonderman reported the
opening on August 18, 2007 for “Portraits” by Marti Jones Dixen and
“Spirituality,” sculpture by Chris Wurst through September 23, 2007.
Budget & Finance – None
Personnel – Mrs. Sonderman reported

Mrs. Rankin moved, Mrs. Zollinger seconded
to memorialize the personnel changes in the permanent Board Minutes.
Ayes: Shoup, Dansizen, Rankin, Fonte, Zollinger. Absent: Ziarko
and Smetana.
Future Planning – Mr. Shoup has been
added to this Committee.
Nominating – Mrs. Zollinger
moved, Mr. Dansizen second, to nominate Mrs. Andrea Ziarko for
Vice-President of the Board of Trustees for the remainder of 2007 to replace
Skip Lawton. Ayes: Shoup, Zollinger, Rankin, Fonte, Dansizen. Absent:
Ziarko and Smetana.
Negotiating – Call for Executive
Session was moved to the end of the agenda.
Communications – Appointment of
Robert Fonte by North Canton City School Board of Education. (letter
attached).

Public Participation - Sarah Shumaker
thanked the Art Committee for touring the art classroom. Special thanks to
Mrs. Zollinger for observing the children’s “Ooey, Gooey” art class in
session.

to adjourn the meeting to executive session at 8:43 a.m. for the purpose of
discussing contract negotiations.
