The director presented the statistical
and usage reports for June 2006. A 4% increase for the month helps to
maintain the 5 % year-to-date figure. June was also the second month this
year to have over 100,000 items circulated. Over 1,000 children are
registered for the summer reading program “Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales”,
which contributed to increased circulation in that department, with nineteen
days of over 1,000 items checked out. The highest day saw 1,987 items
borrowed. There are 43 participants in the teen “Creature Feature” program.
The latest interpretation of the Ohio Open Meeting Law was reviewed. A
display of works from our permanent collection will be displayed in the
small gallery of the Canton Art Museum from November 25, 2006 through Jul
14, 2007.
Mr. Smetana, Art Committee Chair,
reported that on July 30 the show Vanishing: a Pastoral Landscape will open
featuring the colored pencil works of Bolivar artist Rosemary Tope. This
display will continue through September 2, 2006.
Mr. Dansizen, Future Planning Committee
Chair, reported that the committee has held meetings with library managers
and about half the staff. The final meeting with staff is scheduled soon.
They have received lots of good ideas and comments, which will be used in
preparing plans. The next step will be an in-house user survey, which will
be conducted in August or September.

the most recent audit.
Several E-mail comments, which were
