Ayes: Dansizen, Hoover, Lawton, Powell, Shoup. Absent: Schiltz, Zollinger. It was reported that we have had an unexpectedly high response to the library surveys created by Holy Cow Consulting. The estimated initial return without a follow-up notice was expected to be about 200 of 2,000. We returned 677 to Columbus to be included in the tabulations, and late returns are still arriving. At present we have received in excess of 700 returned surveys, with about half coming from the North Canton area and half from the Greentown area. The written report will be available for the March 6, 2003 Town Meeting. The Board Retreat will be held at the DeHoff Building on South Main Street starting at 6 p.m. on Friday March 7, 2003. The Administrative Staff is currently dealing with two grievances, which have been filed by OAPSE Local 15. Both involve a question of overtime or additional hours clauses in the contract. Implementation of the Polaris Automated System has begun. Hardware is due before the end of the month. Installation will be done in phases beginning in early March, and is expected to be completed before the end of April. A core of staff members will be trained in certain modules and will be responsible for training other staff members in those modules. Mr. Dansizen, Building Committee Chair, noted that Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance is now reviewing the repairs needed to correct the problems with the air handler compressor. Mrs. Hoover, Art Committee Chair, reported that the Art From the Classrooms of the North Canton City Schools will open on February 26 with the Elementary Classrooms Show. The High School show will be on display March 14th through 30th to allow students to have their work returned before it is needed for other competitions. April 4th through 19th the Middle School works will be displayed. It was reported that the House of Representatives have defeated the Budget Corrections Bill proposed by the Governor that would have made additional cuts to the LLGSF for the remainder of 2003. The Bill is now in the Senate for their vote. Mr. Powell moved, Mr. Dansizen seconding, to move the March regular meeting to March 26th at 8:00 a.m. Ayes: Dansizen, Hoover, Lawton, Powell, Shoup. Absent: Schiltz, Zollinger. It was announced that approved board minutes and meeting dates are now posted on the library’s web site. Phil Stahler reported that the Friends of the Library Book Sale was very well attended and one of the most profitable winter sales yet. Several Board members reported that they enjoyed the work they did at the library on February 13th Staff Appreciation Day. During different times of the day Board members could be seen checking out materials, accepting returns, phoning patrons with reserves and even checking the book shelves for accuracy. The next regular meeting of the North Canton Public Library will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at 8:00 a.m. at the library. Mr. Lawton moved, Mr. Powell seconding, to adjourn the meeting at 9:03 a.m. Ayes: Dansizen, Hoover, Lawton, Powell, Shoup. Absent: Schiltz, Zollinger.
