Art Classes

Classes are held five times a year.
Eight week sessions are offered every fall, winter and spring,
while summer sessions have 4-6 class meetings.

Spring 2010 Art Class Schedule

Registration for classes will begin on March 8th.
Registration for classes must be turned in by Sunday March 28th.

Registration for classes may be made two ways:
#1. Drop off registration form in the Art Class Drop Box located near the front entrance of the library.
#2. Online at: www.ncantonlibrary.org. Click on “The Little Art Gallery” then “Art Classes.”

 Please do not make payment at this time.
Payments for confirmed classes will be due no later than the second class session.

 Classes are held one day a week for a total of 8 weeks.
Children's class fee is $25.00 per student for the 8 week session.
Adult class fee is $40.00 per student for the 8 week session.

Classes begin - week of April 12th
Last week of classes - Tuesday June 1 through Monday June 7th
The Library will be closed Sunday May 30th and Monday May 31 for Memorial Day. May 31st classes will be made up on Monday June 7th.

We cannot contact each student individually, so please remember to check class confirmation.
Confirmation of both held and cancelled classes will be available on March 31st, 2010.

Children's Art Classes $25.00
Supplies are provided for children's classes.  Students develop art skills with challenging new projects. 
Classes are designed to meet the needs and abilities of each student as well as foster creativity, social skills and individual growth.

SC-1.                Preschool            Monday            1:30 – 2:30            Mixed Media            Instructor:  Clare Aitken
Mixed media classes provide experience  working with a variety of materials and processes including, painting, drawing, collage and 3-demensional materials.

Delightful living creatures will be the theme in our multi-media art projects.  

    SC-5.               3rd – 5th             Tuesday             4:00 – 5:30             Painting & Prints             Instructor:  Clare Aitken
In this class students will have creative experiences with both painting and printmaking while exploring a variety of methods and materials. 

    SC-6.            3rd – 5th                Friday                 4:00 – 5:30                Story Art                Instructor:  Marjorie Lutes
Each week explore a new artist found in stories and images. These artists will be the inspiration for drawing, painting and collage.

Invention and imagination is needed for our future!  We will find out what it takes to bring your ideas to life in new fashion, automobiles, homes, cities and more.

Adult Art Classes $40.00

Supply lists for adult classes are available online and at the library’s information center.

    SA-1.           Adult     Monday             3:30 – 5:30             Watercolor with Rudy             Instructor:  Rudy Amatangelo 
Rudy’s presentation, demonstration and critique method of group instruction benefits both beginning and advanced painters.
Fundamental design, composition and drawing techniques will be applied to landscapes subjects. This class makes use of digital equipment including Power Point
projected reference, printer/copier and cameras as tools to enhance learning.
 

    SA-2.               Adult     Thursday             5:30 – 7:30         Open Studio- Painting & Drawing     Instructor:  Marjorie Lutes 
Students bring the art supplies you like to this studio class and improve your own art style.  There are no required supplies to be purchased for this class. 
You will have assistance in exploring many themes including adapting photographs in your art, working with still life set ups, skills in landscape and portrait techniques.
