Reference Materials
Reference materials do not circulate, but may be copied at our conveniently located photocopiers for 15-cents per copy.  Internet access and online databases are available at no charge during regular library hours.
Reader's Advisory
Whether you're looking for a good book on a certain topic, one that is appropriate for your child's grade level, the upcoming book in your favorite mystery series, or just "something good to read", our librarians and associates at the Information Desk or in the Children's Department will be glad to assist you.  They have the knowledge and experience to know where the book is shelved, or they can order it from another library for you.
Computer Usage
To use the library's computers, just type in your library card number on the next free computer, or at the Reservation Station, located near the audiovisual area.  You can make an immediate reservation, or one for the same day at the Reservation Station.  Sessions are limited to one hour, which may be extended in ten-minute intervals if no one is waiting.  If you owe the library a fine, you will not be able to make a reservation until the fine is paid.  If you can't remember your library card number, you can still use one of the two Express Computer Stations, located near the Information Desk.  Express Computers allow the user a 15 minute, non-renewable time slot, and are available on a first come, first served basis.  They require no identification.  Printers are available for all computers, and there is a 10-cent charge for each page printed, payable at the Patron Services or Information Desks.
Reserving Materials
You may reserve items that are already checked out or on order in person at the library, by using your own personal computer with an Internet connection or the computers available at the library.  To use your home computer, visit the North Canton Public Library's website.  You will be prompted to enter your library card number and your PIN number to place a reserve.  If you don't have a PIN number, please ask our Circulation staff to assign you one.  You can also reserve items at the Information Desk.  When your reserved item arrives at the library you will be notified by phone or email.  If we cannot reach you we will mail you a postcard.  There is a 25-cent charge to cover the cost of postage.
Interlibrary Loan Guidelines
Please observe the following rules when using the Interlibrary Loan Service:
  • You must have a valid North Canton Public Library card to place an interlibrary loan.
  • You may request up to 3 items at a time.
  • You will be notified by phone when the requested material (on hold) is available for pick-up.
  • The material will be held for 5 days.  After that time, it will be returned to the lending library.  Please call us at (330)499-4712, #11 if you no longer want the item, or are unable to pick it up.  Loan periods are variable and often set by the lending library.  Renewals may not be possible.
  • The fine for overdue materials is $.50 per day.
  • All interlibrary loans obtained through the North Canton Public Library must be returned here.
  • When calling to inquire about interlibrary loan materials, please be prepared to provide the title(s).

The library reserves the right to restrict the interlibrary loan privileges of borrowers who habitually fail to pick up loaned materials, owe more than $5 in fines and fees, or have failed to return interloan materials in the past.
