Library Card

Library cards are free of charge to Ohio residents and are issued at the Patron Services Desk. Adult and Teen applicants must show a photo ID (an Ohio driver's license or identification card, school identification card, etc.) and proof of current Ohio address. Children through age 15 may receive a library card with the signature of a parent or guardian. Several forms of ID and/or address verification may be requested, at the library’s discretion.

Your card is good for a three-year period. To ensure good service, please notify the Patron Services staff of name or address changes during that time. If you lose your card, you may replace it for a $1 charge. Please remember to report a lost or stolen card immediately, since you are responsible for all items borrowed with your card. You must present your library card to check out materials.

Checking Out Materials

You must present a valid North Canton Public Library card to check out library materials.

Books, Magazines, CD-ROMS, Audio Books and CDs may be checked out for 14 days. Reader's Express books, DVDs and VHS tapes may be checked out for 7 days. Renewals are available.  Temporary extended loan periods are available at the library’s discretion for vacation and health related purposes only.

Returning Materials

For your convenience, there are after-hour book drops near the Main Street entrance door and in the parking lot near the Ream Street entrance.  The book drops are for books, magazines and paperbacks only.  Movies, CDs and other audio-visual (AV) items should be returned in the AV drop box located next to the Ream Street book drop.

Oversized items that do not fit into the book or AV drops should be returned inside the library.

Please do not leave items outside the drops or on the curb.  You are responsible for items returned in the drops and use the drops at your own risk. Items returned in the book and AV drops remain on your account until the drops have been emptied and the items checked in by staff.  The library is not responsible for personal items placed in the drops.
